Immunometabolism and Cancer Immunotherapy

Dear Colleagues,

Cellular metabolism in immune cells is a key factor for successful anti-tumour immune responses. Indeed, tumours have developed strategies to evade the immune response that involve the manipulation of the tumour microenvironment to disrupt cellular metabolism, and hence the anti-tumour functions, in tumour infiltrating lymphocytes. In recent years it has become clear that harnessing the immune system to target tumours has the potential to change the way cancer is treated and cured. Crucially, there is a developing understanding of the importance of immune cell metabolism for the success of such cancer immunotherapies. This special issue of Immunometabolism aims to provide a series of articles covering all aspects of how immunometabolism impacts upon cancer immunotherapy.
